Mass We Pray

A game where you play, have fun and worship the lord at the same time!

Convenient.

I'm not a Christian myself, but before anyone start lambasting Prayer Works Interactive for blasphemy and heresy and defiling the sanctity of the religion, try clicking on one of the links.

As it turns out, the whole website and the ad for the game shown on youtube, was merely a clever ad for the upcoming game, Dante's Inferno. Clicking on the link will open up a page telling you to "go to hell".

Dante's Inferno is a game based on an Italian poem by Dante Alighieri called Divine Comedy.  It is one of the early works that shape the concept that hell has nine circles (with the 6th being herecy).

The poem features the poet Dante himself as he travels from Hell to Purgatory and finaly to Heaven. He is initially guided through Hell and Purgatory by another poet named Virgil. In Heaven, he is guided by his ideal lady, Beatrice.
(If all this sounds familiar to Devil May Cry, now you know where they get the names from).

The Game
The game itself took some liberty with the story where you play as Dante as he slices and kills everything in his way to hell with a huge scythe to rescue his lover Beatrice. This game is by no means safe for children.

Other Media
Just so you know, there's Dante's Divine Comedy manga published in 1994...

... and a Dante's Inferno anime (based on the game) coming soon.
